‘It’s the Snow’ is the marketing motto for Big White Ski Resort and the resort definitely lives up to this statement.

As the name implies Big White has one of the best snowfall records in Canada, typically enjoying up to 25ft of dry, light British Columbia powder snow each season, which virtually guarantees perfect skiing week after week.

Big White provides an exceptional holiday experience with skiing for all abilities and has something for all the family both on and off the slopes – that’s why it’s consistently voted the number one ski resort in Canada for families.  The alpine village is also one of the best for ski-in/ski-out convenience in Canada; you can literally walk out from your accommodation, click into your skis and slide down to the chairlifts.

Within the charming on-mountain village there are lots of slopeside accommodation options for about 17,000 guests; virtually every property offers ski-in/ski-out access.   There are also 18 on-mountain restaurants, cafes, delis, pubs and night clubs; so there is no shortage of places to eat and drink in the resort.

Off the slopes there are a wide range of activities for the days you want to give your legs a rest.  The Happy Valley Adventure Centre in the lower village offers a fantastic range of things to do including outdoor ice skating, ice climbing on an 18ft wall and it even has mini snowmobile rentals for the kids.  There’s also the Mega Snow Coaster Tubing Park to have fun on.   With the focus being on family holidays in the resort, there is an award winning children’s day care program – which includes an after-dark evening care program for parents who want to try night skiing under the floodlights.

The 16 modern lifts give access to 2,756 acres of patrolled in-bounds terrain.  This is a great resort for all abilities.  There is a green run off every chair, plenty of wide, well groomed runs that are perfect for intermediates and improvers, including the Around the World route, which runs 7.2km from the top of the summit T-bar to the bottom of Gem Lake.  Improvers can ski right down from the summit, even trying their hand at some open gladed areas – so it’s a great resort to learn to powder ski.

There is also plenty of challenging terrain including some superb tree runs through wide open glades, five alpine bowls, deep powder runs, high altitude ‘snow ghosts’ (snow baked trees) and some great fall-line cruising.

The Big White Ski School runs the annual ‘Masters Week’ which has become a popular event at the resort.  The week long programme is specifically designed for the over 50’s, and includes tuition and a range of hosted activities such as wine tastings, sleigh rides, apres meals and more.  This is a fun week for those more mature in years who want to ski and meet like minded snow sports enthusiasts.

We offer the resorts signature property that sits on the slopes at the top of the village adjacent to the Bullet Express Chairlift and the Easy Street village ski through run.  Check out our featured hotel which offers ski-in/ski-out accommodation in a prime slopeside location:
