Located in the region known as the Powder Highway, Revelstoke has one of the best snowfall records in Canada and the resort can see up to 50ft of dry British Columbia powder snow each season.

Revelstoke Mountain offers a staggering vertical descent of over 5,600ft, the longest in North America.  As a result, the ski area originally built its reputation on being ‘steep and deep’, attracting experts and powderhounds.  However, over the last ten years, the resort has developed into a world class ski area offering plenty of skiing and amenities for all abilities to enjoy.

Recent developments in the resort have been aimed at attracting families and Revelstoke is now a well rounded family ski resort with plenty of new amenities including a chic new slopeside hotel, family friendly restaurants and plenty of trails for intermediates and beginners to enjoy.

Intermediates will enjoy a number of runs high up on the mountain that wind back to the skier village.  The longest run in the resort is 15.2km (9.5miles) long – the blue/green trail called The Last Spike – which is considered to be the longest ski run in North America.

There are beginner areas at the top of the Revelation Gondola with jaw dropping views of the Columbia River and the mountain peaks of Mt Revelstoke National Park.  Family friendly facilities also include the Kids Outdoor Centre and a Tubing Park.

The area still offers an abundance of powder runs through the trees, bowls and steep chutes and experts will love the fact that Revelstoke is the only resort in North America that currently offers lift, cat, heli and backcountry skiing all from the one village base.

As Revelstoke is one of the newest resorts in British Columbia, the ski village at the base of the mountain is thoroughly modern with a small number of upscale restaurants, bars, shops and accommodation options.  The historic mountain village of Revelstoke is an authentic, unspoilt mountain community 5 minutes away from the ski base village and has a mix of bars, craft distilleries and restaurants.

Check out the Village Idiot bar and grill, that has bar stools made out of recycled skis.  The Bar runs a ski film competition where budding filmmakers submit their ski film for judging.  Best ski film submission wins top prizes including including heli-skiing…. so it’s worth remembering to pack your GoPro gear.

The resort has a step by step development plan, which will see Revelstoke become one of the largest ski resorts in North America.  Future plans include 20 more lifts, 100 more runs, more accommodation and more retail and dining outlets.

Revelstoke has recently expanded with the introduction of a new chairlift, providing access to seven runs that will make it easier for intermediate skiers to access the Ripper zone from the top of the Gondola.
