Heavenly is one of the most unique ski resorts in North America. The resort famously stretches across two state lines – California and Nevada, which means Casinos! As a result Heavenly combines fantastic skiing with a Las Vegas style nightlife.
Located on the south shore of the stunningly impressive Lake Tahoe, Heavenly is the largest ski resort in the area and features Lake Tahoe’s highest elevation, longest vertical drop and an impressive network of lifts, terrain and trails offering extensive skiing for all abilities. The resort also enjoys abundant snow (typically over 360 inches every season) and with it being in California, 300 days a year of sunshine.

Heavenly is not only the biggest ski resort in the Lake Tahoe area, with 4,800 acres of skiable terrain it’s also the fourth largest ski area in the USA (after Park City, Big Sky and Vail) – and it offers the unique experience of skiing two US states in one day!
Beginners are well catered for with dedicated learning areas higher up on the mountain, so it’s not just the powder-hounds and high-mileage cruisers that get to enjoy the views!
Intermediates will love skiing the wide open cruisers and incredible corduroy – perfect for carving those turns whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the Lake. Intermediates can access almost every lift on the mountain. Our favourite runs are Yahoo, Ridge Run and Canyon which have stunning views. The Nevada side of the mountain is also an intermediates playground with blue trails like Big Dipper and Sand Dunes.

As Lake Tahoe’s highest resort, Heavenly is famous for its light, dry powder snow and gladed trails where you can find powder stashes days after the snow falls. For the best powder head to the Nevada side and try the trees off Stagecoach and North Bowl. On the California side try Powderbowl trees and Maggies Canyon. There’s also plenty of steep and challenging runs with bowls that offer backcountry style skiing. Head for the Milky Way bowl which has some of the best snow all season.
Heavenly Village is a purpose built pedestrian friendly base area where you access the mountain using the Heavenly Gondola that whisks you up to the slopes in just 12 minutes. There’s a free shuttle service throughout South Lake Tahoe which connects you to the other nearby base areas; California base lodge, Stagecoach and Boulder Lodge. When you stay in the modern alpine style Heavenly Village area you are just steps away from the Gondola and the Casinos and nightlife are easily accessible using the Casino shuttles which run virtually 24 hours – handy if you want to take in a late night show. There are also over 150 restaurants in South Lake Tahoe, including the Summit Restaurant in Harrah’s – which is regarded as one of the top restaurants in the USA.

Heavenly is a great resort which offers world class skiing during the day and a truly unique nightlife once the lifts stop spinning. Spectacular Casino’s, jazz clubs, blues bars and arcades fill the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Think Vegas, but with great skiing!
Heavenly is also a great base from which to explore the other resorts in Lake Tahoe. The Epic Pass covers Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar. Kirkwood is located nearby and is renowned for its powder skiing and Northstar is an upscale resort on the north side of the Lake which is perfect for families and intermediates. Both resorts are well worth exploring.
With the highest concentration of ski resorts in the USA, the Lake Tahoe area is also an ideal location for a Snow Safari road trip – it’s only 32 miles by road from the north end of the Lake to the south shore and there’s plenty of skiing in between!
