It’s official Whistler Blackcomb has become even more Epic!
Vail Resorts, one of the biggest ski companies in the US, has acquired one of British Columbia’s most popular ski destinations – Whistler Blackcomb.
Whistler Blackcomb is already consistently ranked the number one resort in North America. Renowned for it’s world class skiing (the resort hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics), Whistler is one of the biggest ski areas in North America with 2 mountains, offering 8,000 acres of skiable terrain and 200 marked runs accessed by 37 lifts.
The acquisition will see a number of new developments planned for Whistler and will strengthen the resorts aim to be one of the world’s greatest ski destinations.
As part of the resorts exciting development, Whistler plans to upgrade the skier experience in the Upper Village with a new day lodge and skiers’ plaza at the base of Blackcomb, a new high speed lift connecting Blackcomb’s upper and lower bases and a night skiing zone.
The most immediate impact to British visitors is that Vail Resorts will integrate the Whistler lift ticket into its market leading Epic Pass lift ticket for the 2017/2018 season. This will create a unique lift pass that provides skiers with access to over 45 ski destinations in Colorado, Utah, California, Europe and Australia.
The Epic Pass
The Epic Pass now offers access to 45 of the world’s best mountain resorts, including Whistler Blackcomb in Canada, the largest resort in North America.
Epic Pass holders have access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado; Park City in Utah; Heavenly and Northstar in California; Whistler Blackcomb in Canada and Perisher in Australia.
Epic Pass holders also enjoy limited access to 30 European ski resorts including Verbier, Les 4 Vallées in Switzerland, Les 3 Vallées in France and Arlberg in Austria.
