Ikon Pass holders can now ski Japan’s powder mecca; Niseko ski resort. Niseko is renowned as one of the snowiest resorts in the world. Located on Japan’s most northerly island in the Hokkaido region, the area typically enjoys over 50 feet of powder snow every season. This really is a powder hounds dream ski holiday destination.
Niseko has a well deserved reputation for powder snow, which falls almost constantly from mid December to the end of February. The terrain is not steep which means the resort offers plenty of opportunities to experience some of the best powder skiing on the planet.

Niseko is regarded as Japan’s premier ski destination. The resort is the largest of Hokkaido’s ski areas with four interlinked resort villages – Annupuri, Niseko Village, Grand Hirafu and Hanazono. All four resort villages give access to one mountain. The international culture of the resort means that English speakers can travel here without any worries. Niseko has a great learning area and the Ski School has English speaking instructors.
The ski mountain offers 3,438ft of vertical accessed by 31 ski lifts. There are 70 recognised trails and plenty of ‘ski-any-line’ terrain options. Nearly half of the resort is perfect terrain for intermediates. Progressive intermediates and advanced skiers will enjoy some of the best tree skiing available anywhere. The resort also has night skiing and snowcat excursions are available for the more adventurous.
Skiing in Niseko is a truly unique ski holiday experience. You’ll come for the snow – but you’ll love the culture, food and soaking in the onsens after a day skiing the world famous powder.
The addition of Niseko, Japan into the IKON pass means that pass holders can now explore 35 premier ski destinations across three continents on the one season pass. The IKON pass also added Thredbo, Australia earlier this summer, giving pass holders the option to ski in the southern hemisphere.
