According to a survey of over 17,000 UK skiers conducted in 2016, the two most important issues skiers look for when choosing a ski resort for their holiday is the size of the ski area and that the resort is snow-sure.

That’s why we think you should get to know Park City Mountain Resort in Utah.

Park City is the largest ski area in the USA and the snow is legendary.  Last season the resort enjoyed a phenomenal 500 inches of snow ensuring the resort has a long season which runs from mid-November to April.

The resort which now includes the ski area formerly known as the Canyons, has become the largest interconnected ski area in the USA after the two resorts merged.  Now part of the Vail Resorts group of ski resorts, Park City has just benefitted from the largest capital improvement project in the history of American skiing.

On the slopes there is a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced terrain offering endless skiing for all abilities.  With more than it’s fair share of powder days, the resort also aims to be number one for slope grooming, preparing 100 runs every day to ensure that it offers the most groomed terrain of any resort in the USA.

Off the slopes Park City was originally a silver mining town and the Historic Main Street has a unique blend of the old and the new.  The Historic town is full of charm and has a sense of being a year round working town offering a wide range of bars, shops and restaurants.  At the end of the day you can ski right back into the main street using the skier bridge and enjoy apres in an authentic western style saloon like the renowned High West Saloon, which you can find next to the town lift.

The Canyons Village is a purpose built ski village, just four miles from Park City’s Main Street and offers a variety of luxurious and convenient slope-side accommodation.  Here you’ll find a range of upscale hotels including the opulent Waldorf Astoria.

With new direct flights from London on Delta, and a short transfer time of under 45 minutes, Park City has become more accessible than ever before.

It’s also a great base if you want to explore the other resorts in Utah.  The region has six fantastic resorts located in three neighbouring valleys all easily accessible by car.  Deer Valley – a skiers only resort, is located right next to Park City at the top of the valley and is a must ski day trip.  In the neighbouring valley you’ll find two world-class resorts in their own right – Solitude and Brighton.  In the next valley along you’ll find Snowbird and Alta – renowned for their powder snow.

Another great option to experience the neighbouring resorts is to book on an amazing backcountry guided tour known as the Ski Utah Interconnect Adventure Tour.  Expert skiers can take a backcountry route of around 25 miles and ski the neighbouring resorts of Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird and Alta all in the one day.

Experts can also enjoy trying snow-cat and heli-skiing which are also available in the resort.
