Banff is the ski capital of Alberta. A historic ski town that’s passionate about the mountains. It’s easy to see why – this vibrant mountain community is set in Banff National Park – one of the most scenic locations in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. With a great snow record and skiing from November through to May, Banff is one of the most iconic ski destinations in the world.
When you stay here you can access three of the most exciting ski resorts in Alberta; Banff Sunshine Mountain, Banff Mount Norquay and Lake Louise. Combined they provide one of the largest ski areas in North America, all accessible on the one lift pass.
Mount Norquay is the nearest to Banff and is the oldest ski resort in Alberta. This compact resort has everything from gentle slopes for first timers, great tree lined blue trails to more adventurous black diamond trails. It’s also the only resort in the Alberta to offer night skiing, which is available at the weekends.

Sunshine Village, 20 minutes away on the free skier shuttle, is a real Rockies gem. The resort offers a big mountain adventure, with three mountains to explore; Goats Eye Mountain, Lookout Mountain and Mount Standish. You’ll find skiing to suit everyone in your group and over 135 trails to explore. With a top altitude of 9,000ft the ski resort boasts that it has the best natural snow and the longest non-glacial ski season in Canada. It certainly has an enviable snow record with an average of 30ft of snow and a seven month ski season, which sees it regularly staying open into May.
Lake Louise is also included on the Lift Pass. This is a world class ski area in its own right and one of the largest ski resorts in North America. It’s world renowned for the spectacular scenery and exceptional skiing. There are over 145 runs to explore and groups will love the resort’s lift system which offers beginner, intermediate and expert trails from every chair.
